Ebbesvik completes Team Bruichladdich for 2010 Le Mans Series
Norwegian Thor-Christian Ebbesvik has completed a deal to race as a professional driver for Team Bruichladdich in this year"s Le Mans Series.
Driving for the well-established British sportscar outfit, alongside Karim Ojjeh and Tim Greaves, the 26 year old from Bergen will be the lead driver with the team"s fully updated Zytek 09Sb car, which is powered by the normally aspirated Zytek V8 engine.
Sponsored by both Bruichladdich Islay Malt Whisky and this year with Tag Heuer watches, the team has a successful history and is looking to make a major step up in 2010, hence the investment in both the fully updated car and Thor-Christian.
Fresh from three successful seasons in the cutting-edge world of Formula 3, Thor-Christian found a natural affinity to the Le Mans Series cars at his first test which has led directly to this career opportunity now.
Best known for winning the F3 support race at the Valencia Formula One Grand Prix in 2008 as well as being Spanish Formula 3 Copa Champion the year before, Thor-Christian is looking forward to the long-distance nature of the Le Mans Series races, as well as his first taste of the world-famous Le Mans 24 Hours race.
I am extremely excited by this tremendous opportunity. The Le Mans Series is a massive step in my career for me and true world-class motorsport at its best. I am very grateful for the faith Team Bruichladdich have shown in me and I will be doing everything in my power to repay that faith to the team on the track.
It is wonderful to be signed by such a team as I know they have both the backing and the equipment to challenge to win - so it is truly a great opportunity.
Both myself and Karim are delighted to welcome Thor-Christian to the team and we just know he is going to be a great asset to us.
He has come highly recommended by his Formula 3 operation, Team West-Tec, who we have worked with before when I sponsored Michael Vergers and last year at the Algarve, so we are looking forward to a successful year with the potent Zytek 09Sb.
This is a great chance for Christian, and I know he is going to do very well. He has the drive for the whole of the Le Mans Series, and we hope to be able to also confirm his participation in the Le Mans 24 Hours shortly. Being backed by such major brands is also a great coup as he builds a successful career at this high level in world motorsport.
